Sierra & Sage appreciates the hard work of stylists in building their clientele and creating their own success stories. But behind the scenes, salon owners provide the foundation for stylists to grow, continue their education, and succeed in their profession. Salon owners not only work as stylists at times but also maintain the salon space to ensure that it remains a welcoming and enjoyable environment - not only for clients but for the stylists working within it. Our team wanted to highlight some of the fantastic salon owners we work with daily, sharing what motivates them and their passion with you.
We have partnered with a few salon owners across the country to ask them about their journey as a business owner, hair stylist, mentor, best friend and so much more…

Bio:
Hi I'm Kelly! I'm a hairstylist and the owner of Altar'd Studio! I have been doing hair now for 6 years. I'm originally from a small town in Kentucky but graduated high school in North Dakota and then came to Rapid City to go to beauty school. Since I was a kid my dream has always been to own a salon of my very own and after a lot of hard work, and the help from my amazing husband and family I was finally able to do so this past November. I specialize in lived-in dimensional color and hair extensions, I'm certified in hand tied extensions. I love going to classes to make sure I'm up to date and certified so I can offer my clients the best I possibly can! If I'm not at the salon, my two kiddos (2 years old & 1 years old) and husband keeping me very busy between work life, farming/ranching and being mom, but I wouldn't have it any other way! We also have two very spoiled corgis (Dolly & Miley) they are the sweetest girls and also my babies!
Question: What inspired you to become a salon owner?
Since I was little, l've dreamed of opening my own salon. For the past three years, I've had a private suite and grown my clientele, but I felt limited in my ability to expand. To continue growing my business and create a space that reflects my style, I decided to open a salon and share it with my clients and other stylists.

Bio:
I am Tiffany, owner and master stylist at Adara Salon. I am passionate about educating my team and providing thriving career paths through coaching and mentorship. I strive to create a professional, caring, inclusive, and creative environment in my salon. I enjoy working with my clients to create a style that works for their lifestyle and educating them to maintain their best look.
I have been in the beauty industry for 17 years and opened my salon in January 2023. Not only do I strive to grow myself as a stylist, but also every stylist who chooses to be part of the Adara Salon team. I have worked with top educators and artists to specialize in hair extensions, blonding, coloring, cutting, formal styling, and curly hair. I absolutely love the aspect of creating 'art' on the canvas of hair. It brings me great joy assisting a client in finding their excitement and vision for a new look; transforming them into their most confident and beautiful self. I am so fortunate to have such a variety of ages, genders, hair textures, and hair lengths associated with my clients. I am grateful for such variety! It keeps me feeling fresh and inspired continuously.
Question: What is the most rewarding thing about being a salon owner?
The most rewarding part of being a salon owner is the opportunity to provide thriving careers for my employees and to mentor and coach new and experienced stylists to be their best selves. I love teaching from my 17 years of experience; both to my clients and my associates. I absolutely love what I do! It is such a gift to offer a luxury space in our community that empowers individuals to look and feel their best. Nothing makes me happier than having new and existing clients walk through the doors of Adara and begin to shrug off anything encumbering them about their day and instead feel welcomed and seen with open hearts and smiles. I believe that what we do here at Adara Salon truly does make a difference, with kindness and expertise, always striving to be our best selves.
