7 Ways To Rejuvenate After The Holiday Rush

As the busiest season of the year comes to an end, you probably have a lot on your mind- from goal setting to just relaxing. But what you really should be asking yourself is;

“What should I do to really feel rejuvenated for the next year?”

Answering that question is difficult. There isn't an exact formula that will get you ready for the coming year. But we do know a few things for sure- in order to prevent burnout, achieve success, and expand your business over the upcoming year, you'll need to develop and implement a different kind of strategy than you have before... The first step for many entrepreneurs and business owners entails setting aside some time to reset and refocus which can be hard after your busiest time of year just ended, but we’re here to help make that just a little easier!

Here are our top 7 tips to feel rejuvenated after the holiday rush:

1. Look at the numbers and set goals

“Numbers don’t lie,'' is one of our favorite sayings! Take a look at the data from the previous season to get your footing for the new year. This enables you to assess what worked and what didn't, as well as what areas you should focus on going forward. Another helpful strategy is to sit back, consider the larger picture, and let your imagination run free.

We also like to consider a few realistic goals for growth such as simply developing our skills or recreating your menu or website. You must prioritize your tasks since there are only so many hours in a day, week, or month. Otherwise, you will exhaust yourself. Setting goals and priorities is ultimately the key!

2. Spend time doing the things you love to do outside of work

It's crucial to keep in mind that resetting doesn't have to be expensive or time-consuming. It is frequently as easy as investing in the pastimes you enjoy when not working. Here are a few things you can do outside of the workspace:

  1. Take an evening stroll. Stretch your legs, get some fresh air and enjoy the scenery.

  2. Read a book

  3. Have a picnic outside

  4. Go for a hike

  5. Visit a museum

  6. Have friends over for dinner & games

  7. Have a staycation at your favorite local spot

3. Get active

You need both a healthy body and mind to excel in life and at business. This is the perfect opportunity to commit again to your healthy routines if you fell behind during your hectic season. You may tackle fresh ideas from various angles by committing to an hour of physical activity while reflecting on yourself and your goals all while letting go of physical stress.

4. Work on your bigger goals

There are times when you don't have time to consider the larger picture, like the holiday season. If you're like many other business owners, you spend a good portion of your busy season getting heavily hands on and just trying to get through it as gracefully as possible. Take advantage of the slow down that’s coming & get a bird's eye view of your business. We strive to focus on projects that are more involved during this slow season and will have a longer-term impact after our company's busy season ends. Taking time to complete these projects will have a significant impact on the business.

5. Evaluate yourself & your brand

In order to improve and level up, focus on your timing and demand, learning from the errors and shortcomings that occurred during a hectic season could be an extremely beneficial growth strategy. We like to reflect on what we accomplished successfully and, more importantly, what needs improvement following the busy season. Looking at where we came up short, we can identify the areas of our company that require improvement, and we can then plan for the coming year to strengthen our weak areas. Maybe a full rebrand is what you need, a fresh website or something as simple as a new color scheme on your social platforms. Rebranding is a great way to reignite that flame after a busy season has burned it out!

6. Refresh your routine

Routines are beneficial, especially if they include consistent physical activity, a balanced diet, and good sleep. But even the best routines have a tendency to falter or disappear altogether. So, change up your routine this year (or start one from scratch) and enjoy the results. After a few weeks, you could find that you're not only healthier but also more time efficient. A few ways to refresh your routine going into the new year:

  1. Try a new workout

  2. Spend more time doing things for yourself

  3. Prioritize sleep

  4. Get organized

  5. Take time to relax

7. Take time for yourself

We get it, life is busy & there’s always a lot to consider when planning your day, including going to work, housework, staying in touch with friends, spending time with your family, taking care of kids and pets, and much more. However, you are allowed (& encouraged) to set aside time for solitude that is intended just for you. It's an essential part of caring for oneself. Remember that you don’t have to earn "me-time," either. You deserve to have this time, even if you feel like you haven’t accomplished as much as you should have.

Here are ways you can start taking time for yourself and enjoying the benefits of slowing down:

  1. Express your needs to those closest to you

  2. Learn to say NO

  3. Block out “me-time” weekly

  4. Set boundaries at work & stick to a schedule

  5. Try doing nothing at all

  6. Do at least one thing each day that you’re doing for you & you alone

Everyone's definition of reset and refocus is different. The way one person unwinds and prepares for the upcoming year may be very different from another's. What do you do to reset and refocus after this busy season? Share your ideas in the comments below!

We look forward to seeing all of your successes in 2023!
